That’s what I thought too, something similar happened in the male competition, the russian gymnast decided at the last minute not to compete so Dalton took his place.

But it was very last minute, I think the russian gymnast went to the US and then decided not to compete. Maybe they didn’t have time to call another foreign gymnast, but I thought it made more sense to have a girl who was at worlds compete here.

Maybe (conveniently) they were not ready while Jordyn was and they took advantage of that, and also made the competition 100 times more interesting!

Can someone explain to me why Jordyn Wieber competed instead of whoever came after Nicole Hibbert at worlds? They were talking about it at some point during the broadcast but I was distracted and missed the explaination.

I’m not saying she shouldn’t have competed or anything, I just thought only gymnasts who competed at worlds could go, but maybe the rules were different ;)

Anyone else feel like USA and Russia are ALWAYS battling each other? Like ‘80 and ‘84 somehow broke the space-time continuum and they will always be fighting an invisible battle of superiority, but no one will ever win.

Yes! A lot of drama, please! Also let’s not forget the Chinese and Romanian teams, they’ll also be there and they’re not gonna sit there and wait to see what happens!

I’m so happy Russia is finally back on top, the last few years have not been good for them, now they’re back and my guess is they want to win everything they missed so far!

Thank you for Tumbling (as in Tumblr, not the gymnastics discipline ^^) about the American Cup. I wouldn't have known about it if you hadn't. Too bad I didn't check Tumblr earlier u_u I really wanted to see my countrywoman Jessica López. Anyways, grazie~~ Adesso puoi mangiare!

Jordyn won, Aliya is trying to kill her with her mind. I really wanted Mustafina to win, but i enjoyed Wieber's floor

And can I add a mean comment? You’re all free to ignore it but I rooted for Mustafina and I have to say it: they just couldn’t let a russian win the american cup over an american!

Yes, it is. And it’s actually not so purple as it looked when they first showed her.

At first it looked exactly like her leotard, maybe it was the light or my computer.
